To celebrate our 60th anniversary, we invited our Swiss customers to an open day at our premises in Eschenbach.

60 years of Sistag

We are proud and grateful to be celebrating our 60th anniversary this year. In 1964 Sistag Maschinenfabrik Sidler Stalder AG was founded in Eschenbach LU. But our roots reach even further back into the past.

We are proud to introduce the latest addition to our team: Luca, Luca, Roman, Elena and Alisa are starting their apprenticeships at Sistag this year in the following professions: Mechanical engineer, logistician, design engineer, and commercial employee. We are delighted to have you with us and wish you lots of fun and success as you start your careers!

Construction Site Party

Our new building in Ettlingen is making great progress. Last week, the Sistag Team Germany inaugurated the construction site with a barbecue.

We spent two days to perfectly showcase our employees and our products. The footage taken at our production site and at one of our customers will be used to create our new Sistag image film.

Successful graduation

Our four apprentices successfully completed their apprenticeships as polymechanics and production mechanics last week. Congratulations to Nico-Enea, Mohammad, Gentian and Mohamed! We are incredibly proud of you.

Expansion of our machine park

The Timesavers, our new belt grinding machine, continues the series of major investments in our production. The new system measures an impressive 11 m. Even one or two walls in our production hall had to make way for the new machine.

Barbecue

In the long-awaited summer heat, we celebrated our traditional Sistag barbecue on Friday. With cool drinks, delicious food from the grill, photo challenge, table football Open and an ice cream cart, it was the perfect start to the weekend.

New production site in Ettlingen, Germany

Exciting changes are imminent at Sistag in Germany: We are building a modern new production facility in Ettlingen, which will go into operation as early as 2025.

Sales partner training

Our sales partners spent three days in Switzerland getting to know our production facility, deepening their product knowledge and exchanging ideas with each other.

Plant visit

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming two customers to our Swiss production facility: The sugar manufacturer Pfeifer & Langen and the plant manufacturer WKS. In addition to a guided tour of the entire Sistag plant, the program included a training session on seal replacement.

Fully automated production

The Halter Loader has been an integral part of our turning shop for over a year now. It equips our Biglia turning center with cylinder bases, columns and spindle nuts and means a significant increase in efficiency for us.

Helicopter installation

Our valves ensure reliable shut-off in the most remote locations. The installation can be quite adventurous for our service team.

Mining Türkiye 2024

Four exciting days at Turkey's largest mining trade fair come to an end. Together with our Turkish sales partner Sunsay Muhendislik End. Malz, we participated as an exhibitor for the first time.

Dresden Wastewater Conference 2024

Two exciting days filled with informative keynote speeches and interesting encounters in the exhibition area lie behind us. A key topic was the implementation of fourth purification stages in wastewater treatment. An area in which we have already gained some experience with our valves.

For the first time, we will be exhibiting at Mining Türkiye in Istanbul together with our Turkish sales partner Sunsay Muhendislik End. Malz.

Pressure test in front of an audience

Our Polish sales partner AFT Sp. z o.o. visited the Swiss Sistag plant together with the end customer for the final pressure test of several DN 1400 knife gate valves.

Learning from the pros

Our Swiss service team visited our partner for electric motors AUMA in Müllheim for a technical training. Under expert guidance, we were able to deepen our knowledge of electric actuators and learn many new things.

Growing production

We are delighted with the latest addition to our production hall. After months of planning and several weeks of construction and installation, the first chips are already flying on our new OKK machining center.

34 tons of technology

Spread over several trucks, our new OKK machining center arrived at the Sistag plant in Eschenbach shortly before Christmas.

Aqua Pro

This year's trade fair for the global water cycle in western Switzerland attracted more visitors than ever before. More than 5,200 visitors came to Bulle from February 7 to 9 to discuss the latest state of the art.

Exposólidos

Our Spanish sales partner Indutec Soluciones Técnicas S.L.U. was one of over 140 exhibitors at the Exposólidos in Barcelona. A special eye-catcher at the Indutec stand was a pneumatically operated Wey knife gate valve VN DN 600 in stainless steel.

Swiss Carnival

Together with the carnival music band Escheschränzer and the entire Swiss Sistag team, we heralded the start of the traditional fifth season.

AUMA Training

In our service team, two people deal almost exclusively with the maintenance of AUMA electric motors. Our AUMA experts pass on their knowledge to our customers in individually designed training courses. Like in this case to the Krause & Co. Hoch-, Tief- und Anlagenbau GmbH.

Sistag Ice Hockey Cup

20 motivated players took to the ice at the Iceline Seetal on Friday evening for the Sistag ice hockey fun tournament. After a tough but fair game, HC Sistag Turquoise deservedly won the coveted Sistag trophy.

Christmas Holidays 2023

After another year full of exciting projects and inspiring collaboration, our entire Sistag team is going on a well-deserved holiday from 23 December to 1 January. We wish our customers, partners and employees a happy festive season and a good start to a successful new year.

EndPolioNow

Instead of giving Christmas presents to our customers, we have decided to donate money to where it is needed most. This year, our donation will go to Rotary International's EndPolioNow project.

Christmas Party

As every year at this time, the Sistag team from Switzerland and Germany came together on Friday for the traditional Christmas party. With delicious food and good conversation, we were able to review the year and toast together in anticipation of all that is to come next year.

Technical training

You never stop learning. Under this motto, the entire Sistag GmbH team in Germany came together for a technical training course at the end of the year.

From tiler to HR manager

Our HR specialist Daniel Langenegger was interviewed by Human Resources Swiss Exams HRSE about his career path. The result is a cool video that not only shows HR development opportunities, but also gives an insight into our exciting working environment.

Early presents

Christmas is coming a little early for us this year. The first presents arrived last week - in the form of several truckloads with our new OKK machining center. We are really looking forward to the addition to our production hall and can hardly wait to unpack.

Water Forum Belgrade

Our Serbian sales partner EuroCons Group was an exhibitor at the Water Forum Belgrade last week and represented our valves perfectly. Thanks to EuroCons for the trusting and long-standing cooperation.

Safety First

Our German outside sales team spends countless hours on the road visiting customers in every corner of Germany, inspecting systems and discussing projects on site. In the summer, the whole team took part in a driving safety training course with the ADAC to ensure that we are safe on the road at all times.

Proud winner

Tiago from Wauwil won our prize draw at the ZEBI education fair in Central Switzerland against 460 other participants. On Wednesday he was able to collect the main prize at the Sistag plant in Eschenbach. Congratulations Tiago!

Sales partner training Asia-Pacific

For the first time ever, we were able to hold a training for our sales partners in the Asia-Pacific region at our new location in Singapore. A total of 15 people from China, Australia, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand came to attend a product training session, receive tips on sales support and share success stories and current challenges.

Lippun symposium

Once again a rewarding day at the Lippun symposium in Vaduz. With exciting presentations about drinking water and interesting encounters at the trade show, where we were able to present our drinking water valves. Thank you to LIPartner AG for this perfectly organized event.

Central Swiss Education Fair ZEBI

Our debut appearance at the ZEBI was a complete success. Among 160 professional associations and companies, we were able to present our apprenticeships at the Lucerne trade fair. At our booth, we were joined by our apprentices and a new technical development from Sistag, which celebrated its premiere at the trade fair.

Future Day

Five students accompanied their parents to work at Sistag last Thursday. In the morning, they were designing their own workpiece in 3D CAD, milling it with the CNC machine and marking it with a laser. In the afternoon, they were able to look over their parents' shoulders on their specific workplace. Perhaps we will meet one or the other again at some point for an apprenticeship at Sistag.

Apprentice trip

On this year's excursion, our 12 apprentices visited HABA AG in Pfäffikon, which supplies our factory with aluminum and steel plates for gauge construction. In the afternoon, they all went karting together.

Anniversary celebration

More than 300 years of service were celebrated this week at the Rosstall in Emmen: From 5 to 50 years. We would like to thank our jubilarians for the years of cooperation and friendship and are looking forward to everything yet to come.

Meeting of Swiss drinking water experts

On November 16, 2023, around 300 experts from the drinking water industry will come together at the Spoerry Areal in Vaduz for the Lippun symposium. In the accompanying performance show, we will present our drinking water solutions.

A successful start to the Pumps & Valves Zurich. Yesterday, we already had an incredible number of interesting conversations and were able to welcome old acquaintances and curious visitors to our stand. Our team is looking forward to a similarly good second day at the fair.

We are happy to welcome our newest Wey sales partner Sycomore on board. As an expert in biogas applications, Sycomore already knows Wey valves inside out and will be our official representative in France.

Career Day

As part of the career week at Eschenbach school, we were able to show eleven students what we do every day. From drawing our products on the computer to programming the automated production machines to assembling our valves.

Sistag customer survey

More than 500 customers around the world took part in our survey and gave us feedback on our service and products. In addition to top marks for the competence and friendliness of our team, we also received useful suggestions on how we can improve further. Many thanks to all participants for their valuable feedback!

Practicing for an emergency

The Inwil Samaritan Association recently conducted an exercise in our production facility. From cerebral stroke to arterial hemorrhage to blood poisoning, numerous scenarios were practiced that can occur at work in the factory. Our employees were allowed to demonstrate their acting skills as injured persons. Let's hope we never have to use what we have learned.

Full house at yesterday's Dresden Wastewater Conference. Among the almost 800 experts from the water and wastewater industry, we were also able to exhibit our solutions for water treatment.

Open apprenticeships: How companies must compete for apprentices

Every year, more than 10,000 apprenticeship positions remain unfilled throughout Switzerland. In a project, young people evaluated numerous apprenticeship advertisements from various companies - including ours.

R&D Experiments

Our engineers are constantly working on improving our knife gate valve design and finding solutions for every possible application. Currently, the team is experimenting with different glider systems that are FDA approved and at the same time function perfectly in high-temperature areas of up to 250°C. Six different materials are being tested over a period of 20,000 strokes.

Automated turning center

Just in time for the new year, our new turning center is ready for use. The newly installed Halter loader automatically loads the CNC machine so that spindles, columns and pneumatic cylinders can be machined unmanned.

At the end of this year, we look back on many exciting projects and look forward to working on ambitious projects again in 2023. At the end of the year, we always do our big Christmas cleaning. Every single machine is disassembled into its individual parts, cleaned and reassembled. This allows us to manufacture our products more precisely and to use our machines longer. A huge effort that pays off: some of our machines have been in service for over 60 years thanks to our good care. That’s our definition of sustainability.

Digitized manufacturing

Production progress, schedule, utilization, malfunctions - everything at one glance. With the latest revision of our flexible manufacturing system, we installed a screenon each of our CNC machines that displays all this information in real time. The machines run 24h a day - during the night hours completely unmanned.

Revision of our FMS system

In order to manufacture cutting-edge technology, you need cutting-edge technology in machining. Our flexible manufacturing system from Fastems has therefore been thoroughly overhauled in the past weeks - with the active support of our production team. All electronic components and motors were replaced and the software got an upgrade. This way we are well equipped for the years to come.

Saying goodbye to Werner Thürig

At last week's barbecue we took the opportunity to say goodbye to our long-time management board member Werner Thürig. After 20 years with Sistag, he is now going into well-deserved retirement. We wish him all the best!

Sistag goes skiing

We enjoyed our traditional skiing-weekend in Andermatt with lots of sunshine and perfectly prepared slopes.

24h of valve making

A normal working day has not enough hours to produce all the valves we need. That’s why we work in three shifts. Every evening our production team programms the automated manufacturing system to run the night shift on its own. For eight hours the system keeps milling standard valve bodys that are controlled and further worked on in the morning. More complex or customized solutions still need the watchful eyes and handicraft skills of our employees and are therefore made during the day.

Sistag is a certified employer with equal pay for men and women. The equal treatment of our employees, regardless of gender, age or nationality, has always been important for us. We are therefore very proud that our equal pay policy has now been officially certified.

Support for the "GasseChuchi" Lucerne

Time to give back. At this year‘s Christmas season we support the «GasseChuchi» by the association for church street work Lucerne. People affected by poverty and addiction receive daily counseling and balanced meals here. A very important project, that is worth being supported.

With the holidays approaching, it's also time for our annual Christmas cleaning. Our entire production facility is cleaned from head to toe - so that we can start the new year in January clean, relaxed, and full of energy.

After more than 15 years of cooperation between Emerson Automation Solutions and Sistag we were happy to meet once again in Eschenbach yesterday. From now on, Emerson will no longer be served by our subsidiary in Germany, but directly by the sales team at our headquarters in Switzerland. A good opportunity to get to know the whole sales team and take a tour through our production site. We are looking forward to an ongoing great cooperation!

Save the Date! On Wednesday, Novemer 17th, 2021, 1:00 p.m., our senior engineer Samuel Leu will give a presentation about melting valves at the Pumps & Valves in Zurich. This customized solution by Sistag is used for granulating plastic. Special materials and coatings, a heatable body and other customized design options ensure that the hot, viscous plastic melt does not cool down or damage the valve.

Anniversary celebration 2021

Last friday we had a reason to celebrate. 15 employees of the Sistag Team Switzerland and Germany were honored on the occasion of their anniversary at Sistag. The biggest anniversary was celebrated by our purchasing manager Georg Furrer (photo on the right). He has been part of the Sistag family for 35 years. We congratulate all jubilarians and are proud to have you with us.

Last weekend’s terrific weather called for some quality time at a special location. Together with the whole team from Sistag Switzerland and Germany, we went up on Mount Rigi and spent a great day on the “queen of the mountains”. 4 weeks paternity leave at Sistag

Finally Switzerland has said yes to two weeks of paternity leave. At Sistag we are committed to family-friendly working conditions and the compatibility of family and work is important to us. We are therefore going one step further and expand paternity leave for our employees from two to four weeks, starting January 2021.
