Service assignment with a panoramic view

Bathing culture on the Rigi, the Queen of the Mountains near Lucerne, has a long tradition. The benefits of the mineral-rich spring water have been appreciated here for 600 years - and can be experienced today at the Rigi Mineral Bath.

The panoramic outdoor pool is particularly spectacular. To maintain the pleasant water temperature of 35°C, the water is drained into a chamber inside the building every evening and pumped back into the outdoor pool in the morning. A Wey sluice gate shuts off the precious mineral spring water - every evening, nearly every day of the year. For more than ten years.

To ensure the Wey valve is ready for the next bathing season, we used this year’s inspection of the mineral baths to thoroughly service our sluice gate. In the drained retention tank, our service technicians removed the valve’s stainless steel plate, replaced all seals and silicone joints, replaced the spindle, and cleaned and reassembled the valve.

Not only was the maintenance itself an adventure - even the journey to the mineral bath was a special experience. To reach the car-free Rigi Kaltbad, our Sistag service van was loaded onto the cogwheel railway and transported the roughly 1,000 meters in elevation to the job site.
